CHAOS A.D. (ROADRUNNER, 1993)
Chaos A.D. is an album by Sepultura, released in 1993. It’s considered one of their best records and with their follow up album, Roots, a landmark in heavy metal.
The album is filled with killer tunes but what I personally love, as much as the music itself, is the album artwork by Michael Whelan! During the 90’s when we listened to music from physical copies, the whole package meant something! The cover art for this album is as impressive as the paintings from Derek Riggs for the Iron Maiden albums.
Pretty much right after Chaos A.D. was released, Dams and I painted the title as a small piece. Later that same year I finally got to see Sepultura live at The House of Culture in Helsinki. And what a gig it was — still one of the most intense shows I’ve ever witnessed.
