Sepultura: Refuse/Resist - Music ❤ Letters

CHAOS A.D. (ROADRUNNER, 1993)

Refuse/Resist is the very first track from Sepultura's Chaos A.D. album, released in 1993, and the song was also available as a single. Oh, there's an official video for it too.

It’s one of the band’s best-known songs and remains a concert staple to this day. Even though Arise is my favorite Sepultura album, Chaos A.D. — especially its opening tracks — do not pale in comparison. Quite the opposite! I remember seeing Sepultura in 1993, and when this song kicked off, the crowd went absolutely nuts. So instead of linking to the official video, I’ll link to a live version of the song, performed by Cavalera brothers in 2018, just to underline my point.

Over the years I’ve sketched a lot inspired by this track, usually with my tag Acton in large letters and “Refuse/Resist” in smaller ones. But it wasn’t until 2025 that I finally drew only the song title itself.
