The song has 15 million plays on Spotify (by the end of 2025) — and for a reason. It’s a great tune, and also the opening track of their debut album Hoitovirhe.When I first heard it, the song — and the whole album — felt like basic but solid industrial metal. For a long time, their second album Pirun Nyrkki was my favorite. But aging does wonders to personal taste: nowadays I find myself appreciating the debut more and more, to the point that it has become my favorite Kätilöt release. The “curse” of this album is that Teurastaja is such a strong opener that it drains your excitement and listening energy within the first minutes. It’s easy to forget there are ten more songs on the album, all equally deserving of attention.
