Steen1 is a multitalented artist: He’s a rapper, producer, author, writer, TV host — and he’s even been involved in local politics.
Oh, and he also happens to be a good friend of mine. I’ve known him since 1995.
Back when he was still actively making music, I handled his website and did quite a bit of creative work for him. Mainly T-shirt designs, various album covers, and/or album layouts.
Between 2001 and 2011, I painted only a handful of graffitis. But in 2011, when I was working on his Jedin Paluu (Return of the Jedi) album, I wanted to include a Steen1-graffiti piece in the booklet. So I painted one myself. I was so happy with the result that I wanted to paint more. And I haven’t stopped since. Eventually, it even turned into my profession. So, in a way, Steen1 is also partly to thank for getting my lazy ass back into the graffiti game.
Unfortunately, I didn’t save the original Steen1 sketch — so what you see here is a replica, redrawn from the actual painting. Because that’s what this site is about: drawn letterforms. And I want to present the basic outlines of each and every painting shown here.
