ACTIVE: 1981-2003, 2023-

Pantera was a heavy metal band from the U.S. They had a long career that came to an end in 2003. My interest has always been on their work between 1990 and 2001. I was introduced to their music by my crew mate Tango.

This happened in 1992, right after the release of Vulgar Display of Power. The moment I heard it, I was in total awe. It was — and still is — one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to. Not long after that, I picked up their previous record (for many, considered their “true” debut), Cowboys from Hell.

Pantera quickly became a band that everyone in HRC loved at the time. So every time I listen to those two albums, my mind goes straight back to the summer of ’92 — a time filled with new music, lots of painting, and overall progress in my graffiti adventures.

I was lucky enough to see the band live twice during the ’90s — first in 1992, when they opened for Megadeth, and again in 1994 as headliners promoting Far Beyond Driven. Naturally I went to see their reunion gig in 2025 as well.
